12.11.2008: Asia Pacific Screen Award- Best Feature Film goes to TULPAN
Tulpan directed by Sergey Dvortsevoy took home the main feature prize at the Asia Pacific Screen Awards, the region's 'Oscar', at a special ceremony yesterday on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia. The Awards were determined by an International Jury headed by Australian Director Bruce Beresford. In all, 32 films repping 17 countries were in the running. CONGRATULATION!!!
03.11.2008: TEZA collects six prizes in Carthage incl. Best Film Award
Chaired by the well-known Algerian writer, Yasmina Khadra, the Jury awarded TEZA, written and directed by Haile Gerima, six main prizes at 22nd edition of Africa's Carthage Film Festival, including the coveted Golden Tanit – Best Film Award for its "modesty and genius." Tanit is a Phoenician lunar goddess, worshipped as the patron goddess at Carthage. The film also picked up awards for Best Scenario (Haile Gerima),Best Image (Mario Masini), Best Editing (Haile Gerima), Best Music (Vijay Iyer & Jorga Mesfin) and last but not least: Best Supporting Actor (Abeye Tedla). The Carthage Film Festival, which showcases Arab and African films, is held every two years in the Tunisian capital. CONGRATULATION TO HAILE AND ALL PRIZE WINNERS !!!!!
27.10.2008: TULPAN takes Best Film and Director Award at Tokyo Festival
Sergey Dvortsevoy's TULPAN was awarded the Tokyo Sakura Grand Prix and the Best Director Prize at the Tokyo International Film Festival (TIFF). Jon Voight, the jury head, stated: "The jury was unanimous. We all considered it a surpassing artistic achievement". TULPAN was also the second highest rated competition entry in a local critics poll published in the official TIFF daily newspaper.
02.10.2008: 35 RHUMS gets Art Cinema Award in Hamburg
The Art Cinema Award presented by Confédération Internationale des Cinémas d'Art et d'Essai (C.I.C.A.E.)at Filmfest Hamburg went to 35 RHUMS by Claire Denis, the film was shot last autumn in Paris and Luebeck. Filmfoerderung Hamburg Schleswig-Holstein augments the prize with a financial support for the funding of PR measures by the German distributor Real Fiction, who releases the film in February 2009 in German cinemas.
06.09.2008: TEZA wins Special Jury Award and Award for Best Script in Venice
The Venezia 65 Jury, chaired by Wim Wenders, having viewed all twenty-one films in competition, decided to give SPECIAL JURY PRIZE and OSELLA for Best Screenplay to TEZA director Haile Gerima. In addition TEZA wins Signis Award (special mention), CinemAvvenire Award (“The circle is not round. Cinema for peace and the richness of diversity” Award) and Unicef Award. We are very proud and congratulate Haile, all actors and crew!!

18.08.2008: Silver Leopard for "33 SCENES FROM LIFE" by Malgoska Szumowska.
On Saturday August 16th, the film "33 Scenes from life" by Malgoska Szumowska won the Silver Leopard (Price of the International Jury) and the second price from the Youth Jury. The film was co-produced with STI Studio Filmowe and Shot Szumowski, both Warsaw and ZDF/ARTE. The film will now travel to Toronto International Filmfestival and then on to Pusan International Filmfestival, it will have its German Cinema release in November (Real Fiction)
29.07.2008: TEZA by Haile Gerima and 35 RHUMS by Claire Denis in Venice
TEZA by Haile Gerima will be presented as world premiere in "Competition" at 65. Venice Film Festival. In 1970 young Anberber has studied in West-Germany and returns post-graduate to Ethiopia. Once in Addis, however, Amberber cannot stomach the anti-dissent of the new so called Marxist regime. As he witnesses a brutal murder, he is ordered on a mission to East-Germany. He uses an opportunity to escape to the West until the Wall falls and Ethiopia’s regime comes to a closure. Now 60-year-old Amberber arrives finally at his home village… It's a story about hope and disillusionment, about foreignness and homeland. /////////////// 35 RHUMS, a French-German co-production, directed by Claire Denis will have world premiere in "Out of competition" official programm presentation in Venice. The film, shot last autumn in Paris and Lübeck, tells the story of the separation of a widowed father (Alex Descas) from his daughter (Mati Diop) he has brought up on his own.

On Sunday, August 10th, Malgoska Szumowska's new film 33 SCENES FROM LIFE, starring Julia Jentsch, will have its world premiere in competition of the upcoming Locarno Filmfestival.
14.07.2008: TULPAN gets East of The West Award in Karlovy Vary
TULPAN wins the main prize Best Film at the East-of-the-West Competition at this year Karlovy Vary International Film Festival and the Netpac Award by Network for Promotion of Asian Cinema. Director Sergey Dvortsevoy introduced the film personally and receipted both awards during closing night on 12. July 08.
25.05.2008: TULPAN wins Cannes Prix Un Certain Regard, Prix de la Jeunesse & Prix de l'Education Nationale
Sergey Dvortsevoy's debut TULPAN has been awarded the top prize in Cannes' Un Certain Regard. The jury, led by Fatih Akin, chose the film from twenty films in competition. The film, set in the filmmakers' native Kazakhstan, was rapturously received at its screening in Cannes. In addition TULPAN wins the “Prix de la Jeunesse” selected from all films at Cannes Filmfestival by the International Youth Jury and the "Prix de l'Education Nationale" a prize given by the minister of education.
24.04.2008: TULPAN and O'HORTEN in Cannes
We are happy to announce that the two Pandora Film Productions, TULPAN by Sergey Dvortsevoy and O’HORTEN by Bent Hamer, are selected for official program at Cannes International Filmfestival under section "Un Certain Regard". TULPAN is the first feature-length film by renowned documentary filmmaker Sergey Dvortsevoy, shot entirely in Kazakhstan. O'HORTEN directed by Bent Hamer (Kitchen Stories, Factotum) is a Norwegian-German co-production.

12.02.2008: German Critics Prize 2007 goes to DIE UNERZOGENEN
On the occasion of this year's Berlinale the German Film Critic Association awarded the prestigious GERMAN CRITIC PRIZE 2007, the only German Award selected exclusively by all film critics, for Best Debut to DIE UNERZOGENEN by Pia Marais. 18.10.2007: HOPE at Hofer Filmtage and in Braunschweig
The german premiere of HOPE by Stanislaw Mucha will be at the 41.INTERNATIONALE HOFER FILMTAGE in the end of October. It will also be screened at the 21. INTERNATIONALE FILMFEST BRAUNSCHWEIG in November. The german cinema release will be in December.
12.10.2007: MADONNEN by Maria Speth wins Hessischer Filmpreis 2007
We congratulate Maria Speth for winning "Hessischen Filmpreis 2007", the highest endowed director's award in Germany, presented during gala ceremony in Frankfurt a.M. on 12th October. The jury says: the film "never ceases to surprise the viewer" and is "a fascinating – and very contemporary – reflection on what it means to be a mother (...)MADONNEN shows that film can also be a tool of expression, mindset and challenge - Cinema Art - and not only distraction and consensus." MADONNEN opens on German screens through Peripher Verleih 06. December 2007.
17.08.2007: DISENGAGEMENT by Amos Gitai at 64. Venice Film Festival - Out of Competition - Venezia Maestri
Disengagement by Amos Gitai will be presented as world premiere at Venice Film Festival in the Out of Competition - Venezia Maestri section. The film – an Israeli/French/Italian/German co-production – is the story of Ana (Juliette Binoche), a French woman of Israeli origin who following the death of her father meets the Israeli half brother Uli and decides to return to Israel to look for the daughter who had been abandoned 20 years ago. Crossing the borders by land and by sea, Ana and Uli end up in the turmoil of the Israeli military free zone in Gaza in 2005.
03.07.2007: THE UNPOLISHED has won the "Best First Feature Film prize" at the 28th Durban International Film Festival
The award "Best First Feature Film" of Durban IFF(Southafrica) is shared by Pia Marais for DIE UNERZOGENEN and South-Korean director Jong-bin Yun (Unforgiven). The Jury says:"...The Unpolished is an autobiographic film of laudable courage and subtlety....boast strong performances and a successful 'mise en scene'..." Many Congratulations!
30.05.2007: HOPE in Moscow and Karlovy Vary
HOPE, the first feature film by Stanislaw Mucha, will have its worldpremiere in the main competition of the Moscow International Filmfestival end of june. Immediately after that it will be screened in the "East of the west" - competition of this years Karlovy Vary International Filmfestival. The german release is scheduled for end of the year.
28.04.2007: DIE UNERZOGENEN wins Crossing Europe Linz and in Buenos Aires BAFICI
This Saturday the CROSSING EUROPE Award 2007 European Competition powered by Linz 2009 European Capital of Culture, went to DIE UNERZOGENEN/THE UNPOLISHED by the German director Pia Marais. The film convinced the jury with its high energy level, the performances, the director’s careful distance in showing some very serious scenes and the commitment to her personal vision. Already at the Buenos Aires International Film Festival (3. – 15. April 07) Pia Marais received the Signis Award for our film DIE UNERZOGENEN. Thanks for your support and congratulations!!!
26.03.2007: Best Actress Award for Ceci Chuh and Pascale Schiller for DIE UNERZOGENEN in Las Palmas
Festival Internacional de Cine Las Palmas de Gran Canaria awarded Ceci Chuh & Pascale Schiller Best Actress Award and Special Jury Mention to director Pia Marais for the film THE UNPOLISHED/ DIE UNERZOGENEN. Pia Marais received her Award personally last Saturday in Las Palmas. Also our co-production TO GET TO HEAVEN FIRST YOU HAVE TO DIE picked up Best Cinematography Award for DoP Pascal Lagriffoul. Sandra Hüller received the Silver Astor - best actress award at the 22nd Mar del Plata Int. Film Festival for her performance in "Madonnen" (directed by Maria Speth). Congratulation!
02.02.2007: DIE UNERZOGENEN by Pia Marais wins TIGER AWARD!
On Friday night the jury of IFFR Competition, headed by Toronto Festival director Piers Handling, honored our film DIE UNERZOGENEN (THE UNPOLISHED) by Pia Marais with the VPRO TIGER AWARD. The international Competition contained 15 films by first or second-time directors. (other equal Tiger went to “Love Conquers All” and third tiger was split between “Bog Of Beasts” and “Afr”). The jurors commended Pia Marais’ film "for its nuanced portrayal of a young girl trying to find meaning in a society that has lost all sense of direction. Her instinctive search to better herself gives the film its emotive power. The filmmaker is also highly adept at creating a disturbing and unsettled reality assisted by the highly gifted performance of the young girl and her parents" Congratulation and a big hug to Pia Marais and the entire cast and crew!

19.02.2006: EL CUSTODIO wins Alfred-Bauer prize at Berlinale 2006.
Matthew Barney of the International Berlinale Jury handed over the Alfred Bauer Prize to RODRIGO MORENO, director of EL CUSTODIO, on Saturday night award ceremony. The International Jury awards the Alfred Bauer Prize for a film in competition that "opens new perspectives in art of filmmaking".

The European Film Academy has announced, that our film Stranger (Ono) is nominated for the European Film Academy Discovery 2005 - Prix Fassbinder. The final decisions will be announced on the ceremony in Berlin on December 3rd.

Karl "Baumi" Baumgartner received the Raimondo Rezzonico-Price for independent producer of the year within the Locarno Film Festival 2004.

05.02.2004: Oscar 2004: Whale Rider - Nomination for Keisha Castle-Hughes "Actress in a leading role"
Congrats to Keisha for her Oscar Nomination for best actress in a leading role, this is a great achievement for the young actress who was only 11 years old at the time of filming. She becomes the youngest ever best actress Nominee in Oscar history.
